This course trains you in the product, so the product has to be there. Two setups work; check which one you have before Lesson 1.
What the lessons walk through
The click paths and screenshots-in-prose of every lesson assume these modules are installed on the mesh you use, in this order of dependency:
| Module | What the course uses it for |
|---|---|
| Reinsurance | The shared dimensions and sample partners — cedents, brokers, lines of business, currencies. |
| Underwriting | The Underwriting Desk register, the Group Underwriting Guidelines rulebook with its Authority and Caps data nodes, submissions, decisions. |
| Claims | The Claims Book register, claim records with development histories, enquiries. |
| ReinsuranceDemo | The worked book — Alpina MTPL XL 2026/2027, five claims, the renewal bordereau, the sample decisions, and the guided tours. |
All four ship from the MeshWeaver.Reinsurance repository and install from the plugin store (they declare their own dependencies — Store, SST, Training, Ifrs17 come along as needed).
Reading vs. changing
- Reading — any mesh that serves the demo. On a mesh where the suite is already installed (for example the public cloud), every 🧭 walkthrough, every tour and every live area in this course simply works. You need no rights beyond signing in.
- Changing — an installation you may write to. The 🟡 exercises change one item in the product — a claim development, an authority rung, an offered share — and watch the system react. On a shared, Git-synced demo space you cannot (and must not) write; those exercises need the suite installed on a mesh where you have write access: your company's instance or your own local dev mesh. Each such exercise states exactly what to change and how to put it back.
The demo book import
The MTPL walkthrough data (Alpina MTPL XL 2026/2027, the five claims, the sample decisions) ships with the ReinsuranceDemo module itself. The wider book — sixteen cedents, eighteen programmes, claims books and every pack document — arrives through one idempotent import:
From the dashboard: open ReinsuranceDemo → Demo Setup → area Import → run the import.
That is the product page at /ReinsuranceDemo/Setup. Running it twice is safe — deterministic ids, create-or-update, no deletion of user files. The course only requires the MTPL walkthrough data; the import makes Lesson 6's register properly crowded.
Check yourself before Lesson 1
- Open ReinsuranceDemo → Submissions: you see the cards Alpina MTPL XL 2026 and Alpina MTPL XL 2027.
- Open Alpina MTPL XL 2027 → tab Structure: the two-layer tower renders.
- Open Underwriting → Group Underwriting Guidelines → tab Reference: the authority ladder and capacity-cap tables render.
- Open ReinsuranceDemo → Claims → CL-2023-001 → tab Development: three development lines.
If all four render, you are set. Start with Lesson 1 — The submission.
