Quality Time is a spoken host for a shared evening. The English and German editions both use the title Quality Time. The German host is named Quality Time Deutsch so both can be installed without an ambiguous agent name.
Get started
Get Quality Time from the Store. It installs the host in your agent collection and the /quality-time shortcut in your skill collection. Choose the host in the chat agent picker, or type /quality-time and select it. Send “Start our Christmas evening” to begin immediately.
For German, use the cover's language switch and get the German edition. Its shortcut is /quality-time-de. You may also ask either host to change language during an activity; the current scores and progress stay the same.
On your speaker
Quality Time uses the existing Voice gateway, conversation thread, speech recognition, and speech output. It adds a host, not a separate audio service. Your speaker must already be paired with your portal and signed in as the gift recipient.
For a speaker dedicated to this gift, the gateway operator selects Quality Time as its MEMEX_AGENT. Select Quality Time Deutsch for a German speaker. The ordinary Voice agent's short-answer prompt does not contain these game rules: verify which host the speaker is using. See the Voice guide and the gateway's configuration reference in the platform repository.
For English, the operator also sets STT_LANGUAGE=en and selects an English voice in the existing text-to-speech backend. For German, use STT_LANGUAGE=de and a German voice. The gateway defaults to German recognition and a German Piper voice. Asking the host to change language changes its reply text; it does not reconfigure speech recognition or the device's voice.
Set ANNOUNCE_MODE=full so a delayed reply is spoken in full rather than saved to the voice mailbox. For a shared evening, use THREAD_IDLE_MINUTES=60: the default five-minute gap between utterances starts a fresh conversation. Pause holds the game within its current thread; it does not extend the gateway's inactivity window.
On the speaker, say “stop our game” to end the activity. A bare “stop” is the gateway's audio interrupt and is handled before the host receives it. Both phrases work as game controls in chat.
What you can play
| Mode | Try saying | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Quiz Night | “Play four Christmas questions with teams Stars and Snowflakes.” | One to twelve questions, one to four teams, one point per correct answer. Twelve Christmas questions and twelve general questions are included. Nature and science each have six questions. |
| Story Adventure | “Make a three-scene adventure with Anna and a friendly fox.” | An original story, one choice per scene, three to eight scenes and a proper ending. Five scenes by default. |
| Table Talk | “Give us a funny conversation question.” | One question at a time. Choose cosy, funny, reflective, or office-friendly questions, then take time to talk. |
No setup interview is required. The default quiz is six questions with one shared team. You can supply ages, themes, and team nicknames when starting. Team names are optional.
Say repeat to hear the same prompt, skip to move on, pause to hold the activity, resume to continue, or stop to end it. In a quiz, skipping uses that team's turn for zero points and reveals the answer. Say score for the current scores. A new activity or “start again” resets the game.
Everyone can pass. Conversation prompts do not require personal disclosures, and stories are gentle enough for a mixed-age group. Ask for a children's quiz or an office-friendly question to set the tone.
Giving it as a gift
Use the gift card as the text for a printed card. Add your personal greeting and the recipient's portal setup instructions outside the host prompt. Pair and test the device before handing it over, then play the first question together.
The plugin itself has no purchase price or expiry. Model usage, Voice access, hardware, and any included service term are provided by the recipient's portal or your gift offer. This plugin does not implement billing or promise twelve months of service.
Keeping your place
Scores and progress belong to the current conversation. Stay in the same chat to continue an evening; opening a new chat starts a new session. On the speaker, pause and resume work within its configured inactivity window.
Quality Time is intended for casual shared play. If the host loses its place, say “start again”. Team nicknames may be translated when you switch language, and story length can vary. Ask for the score whenever you want to check the current game.
