Marketing — events and campaigns as one plan
Most teams keep two calendars that never meet: the real-world one (the conference you speak at, the webinar you run, the members' assembly you attend) and the publishing one (the posts that announce, accompany and follow up on those moments). The Marketing plugin makes both kinds of date first-class nodes in the mesh, so one page answers what happens when, and what do we publish around it.
It is part of the social suite and appears in the Social Media app under Campaigns, next to the LinkedIn, X and YouTube channel packages.
The two types
Event — a real-world date with its documents
A Marketing/Event is one event your team cares about. The node's name is the event title; the
content carries the facts around it:
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Summary | One line of what and why, shown under the title |
| Starts / ends | The dates. No start date yet means "date not fixed" — the event sorts after every dated one |
| Venue and location | Where it happens — the building, then the city and country |
| Organizer | Who runs it |
| Website | The event's own page |
| Programme | The programme or flyer, usually a PDF uploaded into the event node's own content collection, so the original document travels with the event instead of a link that rots |
| Agenda | Sessions, times and rooms, written in Markdown |
| Notes | Free-form Markdown below the agenda — your session, the slide deck embedded in place, travel notes, follow-ups |
| Status | Your participation, in your own words: Planned, Confirmed, Speaking, Attended… |
The event's page (Overview) renders a calendar-leaf card with the dates, buttons to the website and the programme, the agenda, your notes, and the attached files.
Campaign — a time-boxed push with a goal
A Marketing/Campaign is one push: promote a course, launch a product, fill an event. Again the
node's name is the title, and the content carries the plan:
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Goal | What success looks like, in one line — "50 sign-ups for the new track" |
| Starts / ends | The period. No start means it is still being planned; no end means open-ended |
| Audience | Who the campaign speaks to |
| Channels | The networks it runs on, for example linkedin, x |
| Promotes | A link to the node the campaign promotes — a course, a product page, an event |
| Status | Draft, Active, Completed… |
| Plan | The narrative in Markdown: angles, the post series, checkpoints |
A campaign links what it promotes rather than copying it, so there is one place to keep the offer current: the promoted node itself, which the campaign's button opens.
The campaign's Overview shows a banner card with goal, period, audience and channel chips, a button straight to the promoted node, and the plan below it.
One timeline
Both types appear on the Timeline of the Social Media publishing hub, grouped by day: the events of a day first, then the campaigns running that day, then the posts scheduled for it. While you plan a post you see the event it should announce and the campaign it serves. An event or campaign whose status is Cancelled is hidden from the timeline but kept in place.
Events also have a hub of their own: the Event Hub front page lists the scheduled events as cards, the next one on top, events without a date after them, and past events below.
Your data stays yours
The plugin ships types only. Your events and campaigns are your data: they live in their own
partitions on your mesh — one Event space and one Campaign space — owned by you and shared
with whom you choose. No event, campaign or personal data ships with the plugin.
A typical workflow
- Add the conference you are speaking at as an Event: dates, venue, organizer, the programme PDF uploaded into the event, your session in the notes.
- Create a Campaign around it: the goal (sign-ups for the session), the audience, the channels, and a link to the event.
- Draft the posts with the
/postskill of the Social Media package and schedule them. On the Timeline they now sit next to the event and inside the campaign's period. - After the event, set its status to Attended and add the follow-ups to its notes.
